DRIOS PAROS

Drios is a small fishing village located on the east coast of Paros and surrounded by various nice sandy villages.

At the end of the beach you can easily see the wide and big stones with large lines in between which are the ruins of an ancient shipyard. Drios is definitely worth a visit. Just walk around the beach and see the abandoned Drionisi. Most of several beautiful beaches after Drios village, are not easily accessible as the roads are not good.

A sea side district in the green, water springs, sandy bays, 25kms far from Parikia. Most famous in the beach Chryssi Akti (Golden Beach) 1km long, where every year takes place the world championship of surfing. The friendly bay of Drios with its small port is very loved from many people for its beauties. It has ideal beaches for swimming and a lot of touristy installations, its hinterland is very suitable for walks and also the monastery of Saint George. Drios is Know from the ancient years. In the 29 of August takes place the celebration of Saint John Theologos the same day with Lefkes.



Drios was a major harbour in Paros around 1000 AD as the rock formations provided natural protection for ships. Nearby, there are fissures in the rocks which were used as ship piers to protect boats from storms. Offshore is the small, uninhabited islet of DRIONISSI.
